Tiwa Savage Takes on New Adventure: Directing Her First Movie!

Tiwa Savage is an Afrobeats superstar and she has taken this title to a whole new level. On Wednesday, she announced that she would be making her debut as a lead actress and co-director in the movie Water and Garri.

This movie is based on the 2021 EP of the same title that was released by the singer.

In the movie, Tiwa Savage plays the role of a fashion designer with a lucrative career in the US but is drawn back to her home in Africa to confront the guilt she had left behind. The movie is set in the city of Cape Coast in Ghana and will feature other stars like Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting and Jemima Osunde.

Sharing a post on Instagram of a picture of her on set and with directors, she wrote, “This is about to be an ICONIC moment. My first calling and co-directing debut with the GOAT @meji Alabi.”
