In a grand party in Lagos, legendary African footballers came together to celebrate the 50th birthday of the former legendary Nigerian midfielder, Jay Jay Okocha.
The ex-footballer clocked a new age on August 14.
Known as one of Nigeria’s greatest football icons, Okocha’s remarkable achievements on the pitch solidified his place in the annals of the nation’s sporting history.
Notably, he was a pivotal player of the Super Eagles squad that secured victory in the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and played a crucial role in Nigeria’s gold medal win in the football event of the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.
As Jay Jay Okocha celebrated his 50th birthday, a list of former African football legends turned up for the event. Togo’s Emmanuel Adebayor, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan, and Senegal’s Khalilou Fadiga were all in attendance. Ex-Nigerian footballers such as Peter Rufai, Ifeanyi Udeze, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Emenike, Julius Aghahowa, and Joseph Yobo, among others, were also present. Music star, Timaya was also in attendance.
The celebration included an exhibition football match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, where the former internationals showcased their skills in a five-a-side game to the delight of their fans present in the stadium.
