The UofA offers the following postgraduate programmes:Postgraduate Diploma in Creative Writing (PGD)
Master’s Degree in Creative Writing (MA)
Doctorate Degree in Creative Writing (PhD)
Admission Requirements
What You Need to Apply
For PGD and MA ProgrammesYou will need a BA or BSc degree with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Your degree should be in English, Literature, Theatrical Arts, Linguistics, Journalism, Mass and Public Communication, History, Art History, Religious Studies, Philosophy, or Education.
A 60% score in research work is expected.
Social science degree holders or those with an HND can apply if they demonstrate some experience in creative writing.
For the PhD ProgrammeA relevant Master of Arts or Master of Fine Arts degree is required.
Your postgraduate degree must come with a 3.0 GPA and a 60% score on research work.
Duration of Programmes8 months for the Postgraduate Diploma.
2 years for the Master’s Degree.
3-4 years for the Doctorate Degree.
