The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has reached an exciting new height by appearing in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The university has secured the 12th position out of the 21 institutions from Nigeria that made the list.
This is a major achievement for the university, as it competes among over 267 institutions across the world.
Covenant University took the top spot, followed by Ahmadu Bello University and Landmark University in second and third places, respectively.

The Leadership Behind FUOYE’s Success
Dr OS Ayanda, the Acting Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, praised the leadership of Prof. Abayomi S. Fasina, the Vice-Chancellor, for guiding the university to this remarkable achievement.
According to Dr Ayanda, this is FUOYE’s first participation in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The university’s previous appearance was in the 2024 Impact Ranking, connected to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He highlighted that the university has excelled in its international outlook and commitment to research, innovation, and global collaboration.
Encouragement from the Vice-Chancellor
In response to the rankings, Prof. Fasina urged the staff to continue publishing their work in respected, indexed journals.
He also encouraged the adoption of strategic approaches to further elevate the university’s standing on the global stage.
Prof. Fasina believes that this recognition by Times Higher Education strengthens FUOYE’s goal of becoming a world-class university.
